Well, it’s back to ice fishing now that the 2010 sturgeon season has closed.
Sounds like a very successful one for many spearers!
Congratulations to everyone lucky enough to get one.
I, however, am still waiting for my fish to come.
I think 2011 will be my year.
We have plenty of spearers reporting seeing nice sized perch and walleye
cruise through their holes.
I had several reports of nice perch being caught
between Calumetville and Pipe, about .5 to 1 mile out.
Brothertown, as well, still has perch and white bass in that same
distance range and out around the 3 mi mark.
Perch seem to be coming through around 10 to 13 feet down, so you may want to fish a bit higher than you have been. They’re coming up for the bait.
A small Swedish pimple with a minnow head was working well.
It seems the hour before sundown has been the most productive time.
Ice conditions are pretty good, but WATCH for sturgeon holes!! Landings are a bit mushy.

As for lure colors, it is still very spread out.
Metallics, such as silver and gold, are common.
Firetiger and Perch patterns are selling well too.
Don’t be afraid to vary your lure size.
Try a size smaller or larger if things aren’t happening.
***Be sure to support your local fishing club by buying a road pass pin.
It is expensive to gas up and maintain those trucks and plows.
It is not required to purchase one, but truly helps the clubs out.
